appalachian aperitivo | a wine + snack event with botanist + barrel | august 16th
saturday, august 16, 2025
5pm - 7pm
Join us for Appalachian Aperitivo — an intimate evening of local food, wild wines, bold conversation + Southern hospitality.
This special event brings together food, fermentation and storytelling in celebration of the Southern land and table. Kristin will kick off the evening with a casual chat on Southern small plates, sharing her creative approach to pairing seasonal, local ingredients with natural wines.
Joining in collaboration are a couple of our favorite Asheville friends: Lyndon Smith and Amie Fields, founders of Botanist & Barrel and creators of DeFi Wines. Known for their boundary-pushing pét-nats and commitment to hybrid varietals and wild fermentation, they’ll pour a vibrant lineup of zero-additive, Appalachian-grown wines…from Vermentino and Sangiovese to Cabernet Franc rosé and cold-hardy hybrid blends.
Come sip, snack + savor a spirited evening of Southern sips, inspired pairings, and the stories behind every bottle.
Wine + nibbles included.
We apologize but due to our permit, no outside alcohol is allowed on La Poste’s property.
Please be aware of La Poste’s cancellation policy before signing up.
La Poste’s kitchen is located on the second floor of a historic building. Taking a small flight of stairs to the second story is required to access the kitchen. I apologize that this may not be ideal for everyone. Please let me know if you’re unable to attend for this reason and I will do my best to help you find a time to attend class at the Barn.
