We are so excited to welcome artist Mary Burdette of Love, Louise Designs to the porch at La Poste for a relaxing and educational morning learning the beautiful art of calligraphy as we create hand-written cards to take home!
In this very beginner-friendly workshop, Mary will guide us through the basics of hand lettering and calligraphy using simple tools to create beautiful projects for your gatherings and parties utilizing this age-old technique! Good handwriting is not a prerequisite to create beautiful, modern calligraphy using a brush pen!
Mary will help us design custom place cards or simple name cards to help us further our practice. All materials will be provided for attendees to take home: Pentel brush pen, a personalized calligraphy guide with alphabet and flourish tutorial, practice sheets, and blank place cards.
Wine will also be served, of course!
A little bit about Mary and Love, Louise Designs:
Mary Burdette, of Love, Louise Designs, is a calligrapher and painter based in Atlanta, Georgia. For over a decade, Mary has created design-forward lettering and abstract, color-driven compositions. Her calligraphy can be seen in Celebrating Home by James Farmer, and has had artwork featured at The High Museum, Delta Airlines, Cashiers Designer Showhouse, and hung among many homes throughout the country. Mary pushes the boundaries of traditional forms and encourages others to explore creative expression. www.lovelouisedesigns.com
This is a wine-included class. We apologize but due to our permit, no outside alcohol is allowed on La Poste’s property.

La Poste’s kitchen is located on the second floor of a historic building. Taking a small flight of stairs to the second story is required to access the kitchen. I apologize that this may not be ideal for everyone. Please let me know if you’re unable to attend for this reason and I will do my best to help you find a time to attend class at the Barn.
