Spring Wine Tasting with Chris Thornbury from Rise Over Run

We hope you’ll join us for this fun + educational event with one of our best buddies in the wine business, Chris Thornbury! We have been working hard with Chris to find some of the most delicious wines for your warm weather sipping! This is not only the perfect time to simply come hang out with us and learn more about the wines we are so obsessed with, but it is also an ideal opportunity to taste wines that you may wish to stock up on for your summer gatherings!

We will sip and learn about how these wines are produced and all about the fascinating stories behind the makers. Light, complimentary spring-y nibbles will also be served!

** This is a free event, but please be sure to rsvp via the link here so we can plan for enough vino + snacks!

A little about Rise Over Run:

Rise Over Run Wine, the only NC-based wine import and distribution company to be 100% owned by a female, is based in Asheville, and is the result of a deep love of family farms, sustainable growing, and unadulterated wines. Their portfolio emphasizes the cultural component and sense place that small production, minimal intervention wines express; direct imports further spotlight the importance if slope and elevation (Rise/Run=Slope).

The company mission is to affiliate wine back to farming, dispel the perception that wine is unapproachable, and to promote its enjoyment by all. Through awareness and conscious community effort, ROR hopes to support social change in an industry that has historically had limited inclusion.

A little bit about Chris Thornbury:

Chris studied art before becoming obsessed with the subject of wine and its endless details. This lead to a career in the restaurant business spanning over twenty years. Originally from Detroit, he’s lived and worked in Savannah Georgia and Portland Oregon. Chris has spent his career advocating for small, family run wineries who practice low intervention viticulture and the people who make these places function. Chris lives in Canton North Carolina with his beautiful wife and three boys.
