11a - 3p
Vietnamese (a Father’s Day Class + Lunch!) with Guest Chef Peyton Barrel
Today, we will explore Vietnam’s diverse ingredients and traditions with Peyton! You may think that Peyton is only obsessed with French fare, but his second love is definitely Vietnamese! He has an immense passion for the fresh, herb-filled (and French-insired!) subtleties of this amazing cuisine. In this class, we can’t wait to explore the dishes that are often eaten in the hot, exotic night markets and from street stalls…saucy noodles, smoky meats, and icy cold fruits.
Peyton’s hope is to fuel your further interest in this beautiful cuisine by helping you to learn how to cook these simple, colorful dishes at home!
We will spend some time around the La Poste kitchen island - with nibbles, of course - followed by a leisurely seated lunch of what we’ve prepared together.
There will be wines, of course, from the shop! We’ll explore the wines from all over the world that pair beautifully with the foods of Southeast Asia!
A little about our good buddy Peyton:
Peyton Barrell is the Chef of soon to be Asheville Rotisserie, Gourmand. A career long francophile, Peyton has spent time under James Beard Award Winning Chefs, a Michelin Starred French Restaurant, and has spent the last five years operating various iterations of Gourmand. From fine dining, charcuterie, cheese mongering, and most recently rotisserie, Peyton has spent his career immersing himself in the deep rabbit hole of French Cuisine.
This is a wine-included cooking class. We apologize but due to our permit, no outside alcohol is allowed on La Poste’s property.
Please be aware of La Poste’s cancellation policy before signing up.
La Poste’s kitchen is located on the second floor of a historic building. Taking a small flight of stairs to the second story is required to access the kitchen. I apologize that this may not be ideal for everyone. Please let me know if you’re unable to attend for this reason and I will do my best to help you find a time to attend class at the Barn.
